Lincroft, NJ - The Jersey Blues men's soccer team grabbed their first win of the season on the road against the Georgian Court University Lions JV squad, 5-2. The Blues witnessed an early possesion go to waste with a top class set piece from the Lions, giving them a 1-0 lead.
Brookdale quickly responded back by tallying four goals before the half ended, giving them a four to one lead. Both Brookdale and Georgian Court added a goal in the 2nd half, making it a pretty even half. Sophomore centerback, James Vassilakos, initiated the scoring for the Blues, marking his first goal of the season. Sophomore forward, Augusto Bomtempo, stole the show with three goals and one assist, as sophomore forward, Liam Stewart, added a goal and an assist as well.
Assistant Coach, Connor Hansen, was quoted as saying, "the boys are starting to come together and we are not even at full strength yet. Also as a former Centerback for Brookdale, it's nice to see two different centerbacks score in back to back games."
The Jersey Blues (1-1) will be playing a two-game series in Maryland this weekend. Their first game is against the Montgomery College Raptors on Saturday, September 10th, at 1:00pm.
