Askew & Myers Selected To NJCAA DIII Men's Basketball All-American Teams
Lincroft, NJ - After an amazing year for the Brookdale Community College men's basketball team, two outstanding Jersey Blues were selected to the NJCAA DIII All-America Teams.
Lincroft, NJ - After an amazing year for the Brookdale Community College men's basketball team, two outstanding Jersey Blues were selected to the NJCAA DIII All-America Teams.
The 6'6" sophomore center from Brooklyn, NY, Darnell Askew, was one of five chosen nationally for First Team, and rightfully so. Askew was selected as the Region 19 Player of the Year, First Team All-Region, NJCAA DIII Player of the Week, and GSAC DIII Player of the Week twice. Askew accumulated unquestionable stats as he averaged 18.5 points a game, scoring a total of 554 this season and reaching his 1,000th at nationals. He was also ranked 6th in the nation for blocks, averaging 3.1 per game with a total of 92 for the season and 11th in offensive rebounds with 4.2 per game.
Freshman forward, Savon Myers (Manchester High School) tallied sensational stats in his first year as a Jersey Blue. In 31 games, Myers averaged 16.4 points a game (508 total) and 9.3 rebounds per game. He tallied 122 assists, 58 steals, 44 blocks and was chosen for Second Team All-Region and GSAC DIII Player of the Week.
