Brookdale Baseball Shank The Suffolk Sharks

Lincroft, NJ - The Jersey Blues shanked the Sharks of Suffolk Community College, defeating them in a 16-1 and 12-1 sweep to complete their 2024 regular season games.

Undefeated freshman, Tyler Spencer, took to the mound for his 7th win of season after 5.0 innings and two strikeouts in the 16-1 Brookdale win. Hits were strewn in every direction as the Blues jumped out to a big 11-0 lead in the first inning.

Three RBI contributors came from third baseman, Rocko Brzezniak, center fielder, Devon Smith, and catcher, Lucca Limeira. Brzezniak had a perfect 4-for-4 day at bats with two triples, while Smith and Limeira each posted doubles. Sophomore right fielder, Nick LoVarco, put up two RBI's including his history-making 18th season homer.

Brookdale mercied the Sharks again in game-two with the help of LoVarco's 4-for-4 at bats, including a triple, to bring home five RBI's, while Devon Smith smacked a double and supplied three RBI's for the Jersey Blues. Freshman John Goodes (4-1) threw for 4.0 innings with three strikeouts to earn the win for Brookdale.

The Jersey Blues (41-7-1) await their seeding for the Region 19 playoffs which begin on Saturday, May 11th.
