Head Coach, Poline Mackiewicz, joined the Jersey Blues for the 2017 season. "The team was small but fierce, and we managed to achieve a very gratifying 7-9 season," Mackiewicz stated. In the following season, the roster grew considerably, which set the stage for a 2019 season of firsts.
On September 15th, 2019, the Jersey Blues hosted their first tri-match which included two NCAA Division II teams, and one Division III team. One month later, the Blues took their first win in the programs history over the Ocean County College Vikings. To cap off the 2019 season, the team made their first-ever Region XIX conference tournament appearance.
Prior to Brookdale, Poline Mackiewicz joined the NJIT volleyball coaching staff in 2012 as a volunteer assistant coach. In addition, Coach Mackiewicz has taught instruction for entry level players for Middle School Volleyball Clinics since 2007, which is sponsored by the Edison Recreation Department. She also coached boys and girls' teams for the Six Pack volleyball club from 2014-2017.
Mackiewicz played volleyball at Esporte Clube Pinheiros in Sao Paulo from 1975 to 1980, before moving to the United States. Mackiewicz initially participated in volleyball with the intention of just improving her physical health. With passion and hardwork, Poline really excelled, and was selected for the Sao Paulo state team with the hope of advancing to the national team for the Olympics. However, a severe ankle injury led to a change of plans and she focused on her studies and work.
A native of Sao Paulo, Brazil, Makiewicz has lived in New Jersey for more than 30 years.
