Brookdale sits at the #4 spot in the NJCAA DIII national standings and #3 in Region 19 as Northampton is #10 in the nation, #4 in the region. Freshman pitcher, Jules Hart, got the ball rolling in the first inning with intense energy to set the stage for what was to come as she finished with five strike outs in 7.0 innings.
On the offensive end, the spirit continued when lead-off hitter, Jillian Fay, sent a bomb over the left field fence in the first inning to put the Jersey Blues on the board. Sophomore catcher, Jessica Fay, was a huge factor in the win as she belted 2-for-4 at the plate, including a double to post four RBI's. Freshman right fielder, Emma Zazzarino, clobbered a double included in her 2-for-3 at bats for an RBI, Jules Hart went 3-for-4 for an RBI, and freshman center fielder, Jaylen Campbell, added an RBI from her 2-for-4 in the box.
In the second game, Hart continued to throw her heart out in the circle for an additional 7.0 innings to strike out six. On the opposite side of the circle, the hits and RBI's came from, Emma Zazzarino, who punched a two-run triple, freshman left fielder, Carmela Esposito, who went 3-for-4 with a double for an RBI, freshman third baseman, and Jadeyn Pavlik, who also batted 3-for-4 with an RBI. Batting 2-for-4 with an RBI were sophomore first baseman, Audra Lowe, and Jules Hart.
The Jersey Blues (21-7) are back in action and headed to Blackwood, NJ, on Wednesday, April 16th, 3:30pm, to play the Camden County College Cougars.
