Lincroft, NJ - In a recent conference game on Saturday, October 11th, the Brookdale men's soccer team lost to the Camden County College Cougars by a score of 2-0.
Camden opened the scoring just two minutes into the match after a loose ball fell to a midfielder, who slipped a lateral pass into the box for a composed finish into the lower left corner.
Brookdale nearly found an equalizer when Freshman defender, Declan Smith, delivered a well-placed ball into the box to a running freshman defender, Peter DeSantis, whose header went just wide of the post. Moments later, freshman midfielder, Jorgeluis Pintado's, corner found Smith again at the far post, but his header missed the frame by inches. Another dangerous corner shortly after connected with freshman defender, Billy Murawski, inside the box, but his attempt skimmed just over the crossbar.
The game remained balanced in midfield possession, with both sides trading spells of control but creating few clear chances in the attacking third.
In the 81st minute, Camden broke through the midfield and found space for a low shot that tucked into the net, doubling their lead to 2–0 — the eventual final score.
Brookdale (6-8) will look to regroup after a few days of rest and recovery for key injured players as they prepare to host the Essex County College Wolverines on Wednesday, October 15th at 4:00pm.
