Lincroft, NJ - Brookdale men's soccer dropped a conference game against the RCSJ-Cumberland Dukes with a final score of 3-1
Brookdale opened the scoring in the 32nd minute when sophomore midfielder David Merino slipped a through ball to freshman defender Billy Murawski, who split the center backs and finished first-time near post as the keeper came off his line.
In the second half, a foul throw from Cumberland landed at the feet of their midfielder at the top of the box, who turned and fired a strike into the far post corner to level the match at 1-1.
Both sides continued to push forward, creating chances deep in the opposing halves, but strong defensive play kept the score even.
In the 82nd minute, Cumberland broke down the sideline and found the net at the near post to take the lead. Just five minutes later, they added an insurance goal from close range to seal the result.
Brookdale (6-7) will look to regroup with a few days of rest before returning home to face one of the nation's top teams, Camden County College, on Saturday, October 11th at 12:00pm.
