Randi Sutton's Stellar Defense Propels Brookdale To Victory Over Northampton Spartans
Lincroft, NJ - In a seesaw battle, the Jersey Blues men's basketball squad overcame the Spartans of Northampton Community College, 89-86. Freshman guard Randi Sutton recorded a stellar defensive game and made it hard for his Spartan opponent.
Lincroft, NJ - In a seesaw battle, the Jersey Blues men's basketball squad overcame the Spartans of Northampton Community College, 89-86. Freshman guard Randi Sutton recorded a stellar defensive game and made it hard for his Spartan opponent.
Just seconds after tip-off, Northampton was on the board and quickly jumped to a 20-9 lead over Brookdale. Brookdale fought back and gained a four point lead going into halftime. The second half saw the score go in favor of each Region XIX team until the remaining two minutes of the match-up. Freshman guard Keyshawn Cummings swished one of his two free throws, giving the Blues a three point lead, while sophomore forward Terra Gatling regained possession with 1.7 seconds on the clock after his failed attempts at the free throw line to secure the victory.
Freshman guard Lamar Johnson dropped 29 points as Gatling posted 16 points and 10 rebounds. Sophomore forward Jahmere Calhoun added 16 points as Cummings connected for 10 points.
The team improves to 4-1 and will travel to Union County College for a GSAC contest beginning at 12:00pm on Saturday, December 1st.
