Brookdale Event & Recreation Center (BREC)
Brookdale's Recreation and Events Center (BREC) is the newest addition to the college's athletic complex, one of the best in New Jersey.
The gymnasium on the BREC's lower level can be used for recreation, indoor practices and games, or for spillover event space. There are six basketball hoops, a batting cage, and a curtain divider in the facility; each can be lowered for play or raised to the ceiling when out of play. The curtain divider can be used to create two basketball courts.
All three courts (main and two side courts when the divider is down) are regulation collegiate size. The gym floor is also lined for volleyball matches; posts for volleyball or tennis nets can be mounted in the gym floor on each court.
The BREC contains remote-powered bleachers on each side of the main court. At capacity, the bleachers seat 1,100 spectators. It's a great location for indoor practices, recreation and intramural activities, and local community events.
The Robert J. Collins Arena
The Arena ground floor provides over 23,000 square feet of event space, with seating for 2,000 spectators.
The main floor of the Arena has a distinct floor plan and is approximately 14,000 square feet. The seating layout forms the shape of a capital letter "D", with one straight section and two curved sections. New bleachers were installed in the two curved sections and premium seats (individual stadium seats with back support) were added to the straight section. The basketball hoops are portable and the bleachers can be pulled out by sections or pushed in completely.
All new seating, flooring, restrooms, concessions, locker rooms, and HVAC system are among the upgrades, as well as the installation of new elevators so the Arena is fully ADA compliant.
The facility also provides refined office and conference room spaces for the Director of Athletics, Staff and Students.
Additional Arena features:
- a stage level Meeting/Green Room with private toilets and lounge area
- two upper level food concession stands, one with a full restaurant-sized kitchen
- glassed entryway box office/ticket sales
- first-class upper level hospitality suite with a 10′ retractable glass wall
- six men's and women's locker rooms
- coaches offices and conference rooms
- athletic training room
