Brookdale's Cross Country Team Finishes 9th In The Country; Purdon Places 7th Overall
Milledgeville, GA - The men's and women's cross country teams completed their magical season by running in the NJCAA Division III Championship meet at Council Farms in Georgia this past weekend.
Milledgeville, GA - The men's and women's cross country teams completed their magical season by running in the NJCAA Division III Championship meet at Council Farms in Georgia this past weekend.
In the women's race, freshman Kristen Daly from Middletown North High School, completed her 5K by placing 84th in a time of 28:33, and ending her season with one of her best times. Theodore Purdon, a freshman from Red Bank Regional High School, ran the race of his life by placing 7th overall in a time of 27:04 while earning All-American status. Purdon is the first Brookdale cross country All-American since 2017. He was followed across the line by freshman, Michael Puzo (Middletown North High School), who placed 41st and ran a HUGE personal record of 28:48.
Freshman Joshua Seba (Mater Dei Prep), who placed 59th in a time of 29:35, was only two seconds off his personal record. Sophomore Captain, William Broadhurst (Middletown North High School), ran his best race of the season as he placed 70th overall in a time of 29:54. Freshman, Connor Scott (Keansburg High School), placed 77th and ran a 30:25; his second best time ever. Sophomore Captain, Maksim Popov (Colts Neck High School), placed 80th with a monster personal record of 30:38.
Rounding out the scoring was freshman, Joshua Beer (Shore Regional High School), who placed 89th and ended the season with a big time personal record of 31:07. Brookdale's 218 team points were good enough for a 9th place finish in the nation. Finishing in the nation's top 10 is incredible for Brookdale Community College and its cross country program. The status is the most attention they have received in decades and will be the building blocks for next year's team.
