Men's Cross Country Places 10th At Delaware Invitational
Newark, DE - For the first time in 5 years the men's cross country team was able to score as a team, placing 10th overall at the Delaware Invitational. On a very hilly 8K course, freshman Liam Broadhurst led the Jersey Blues and placed 42nd in a time of 31:50.
Newark, DE - For the first time in 5 years the men's cross country team was able to score as a team, placing 10th overall at the Delaware Invitational. On a very hilly 8K course, freshman Liam Broadhurst led the Jersey Blues and placed 42nd in a time of 31:50. He was followed by freshman Maksim Popov who placed 59th in a time of 33:29. Freshman Michael Smith made his collegiate debut and placed 83rd in a time of 35:50 and recorded a personal best. Freshman Branden Mesia also made his cross country and collegiate debut by placing 85th in a time of 36:22. Sophomore Michael Chiappone placed 96th in a time of 38:45. Rounding out the scoring was freshman Kevin Gonzalez , who placed 98th in a time of 40:04.
The women's team was led by freshman Malea McMurray who ran a very hilly 6K course and placed 99th in a time of 33:05.
The team will next compete on Saturday, October 5th at the Highlander Cross Country Challenge at Branch Brook Park.
