Cross Country Opens 2019 Season With Two Medals At Dukes Invitational
Vineland, NJ - The Brookdale men`s and women`s cross country teams opened up their seasons very successfully with strong performances at the Dukes Invitational at Cumberland County College.
Vineland, NJ - The Brookdale men`s and women`s cross country teams opened up their seasons very successfully with strong performances at the Dukes Invitational at Cumberland County College.
Freshman Malea McMurray became the first Brookdale woman's cross country student-athlete to earn a medal in at least five years after she ran a personal best and placed 15th with a time of 26:33.
The men's team was led by freshman Maksim Popov, who placed 14th and earned his first collegiate medal with a time of 18:21. Popov also recorded a personal best time. Freshman Liam Broadhurst ran a strong race, placed 23rd, and just missed a medal with a time of 19:31. He was followed by sophomore Michael Chiappone, who placed 53rd with a time of 21:35. This was Chiappone's best time on this course. Rounding out the team was sophomore Ryan Loehr, who ran a nice race and placed 63rd with a time of 23:27.
Both teams will return to action on Saturday, September 21st at the Osprey Invitational at Richard Stockton University.
