Cross Country Finishes NJIT Highlander XC Challenge
Newark, NJ- The Brookdale men's and women's cross country teams competed at the NJIT Highlander XC Challenge on Saturday, October 8th. The meet was run at Branch Brook Park in Newark, which also serves as the Region XIX Championship site.
Newark, NJ- The Brookdale men's and women's cross country teams competed at the NJIT Highlander XC Challenge on Saturday, October 8th. The meet was run at Branch Brook Park in Newark, which also serves as the Region XIX Championship site.
On the women's side, the Jersey Blues placed 16th overall as a team, with Monroe CC taking home the title with 110 points. Over 190 runners competed in the 5K race. Freshman Shannon Kelley placed 33rd overall with a time of (20:51.33). Sophomore Hannah Fite placed 67th with a time of (22:05.55) while sophomore Tierra Hackle finished 77th with a time of (22:37.55). Freshman Rizwana Khan ran a time of (23:36.07) as freshman Rachel Rouse ran a time of (34:17.63).
On the men's side, St Thomas Aquinas took home the team title with 53 points. In the 8K race, freshman William Nemeth ran a time of (31:41.47) while freshman Rob Arroyo ran a time of (36:06.12).
The Jersey Blues will next compete at the Rowan Inter-Regional Border Battle at Rowan University on Saturday, October 15th.
