Bio

Coach Max Zeugner joined the Brookdale women's tennis team in Fall 2020. Prior to joining the Jersey Blues, Zeugner served as Assistant Head Coach at the Pratt Institute, and taught tennis both privately and at Kid’s Tennis Co. in New York City.

A former junior tennis player from central Massachusetts, in high school Zeugner decided to temporarily put aside his love for the sport to pursue his other passion: music. After studying double bass at the Juilliard School and Boston University, he turned pro, winning auditions at home and abroad. He spent eight years in Europe, where he served as Principal Bass with the Royal Northern Sinfonia and the BBC Philharmonic, also performing with the London Symphony and the Netherlands Philharmonic. In 2012 he moved back to the USA to join the New York Philharmonic, and has since been promoted to the position of Associate Principal Bass, which he holds today. Aside from his performing career, Max also teaches and coaches music at Mannes College of Music, the New School, and around the world.

Max is excited to join the Jersey Blues, and hopes for big things for Women’s Tennis at Brookdale! He currently resides with his family in nearby Holmdel, NJ
