Second Half Surge Leads Brookdale Past Cumberland
Lincroft, NJ – After trailing by six at halftime, a 16-4 run to open the second half was enough to propel the Brookdale women’s basketball team past the Cumberland County College Dukes 75-70 at Collins Arena on Saturday afternoon.

Lincroft, NJ – After trailing by six at halftime, a 16-4 run to open the second half was enough to propel the Brookdale women's basketball team past the Cumberland County College Dukes 75-70 at Collins Arena on Saturday afternoon.
Brookdale outscored Cumerland 26-16 in the third quarter and 14-13 in the fourth quarter. Freshman point guard Che'Kasha Andrews led the Jersey Blues and all scorers with 32 points, 21 of those coming in the second half.
Sophomore forward Colleen Branagan led the Blues at halftime with 12 points and ended with 19. Sophomore guard Sara Mezzeo led Cumberland with 27 points, all coming on three-pointers.
The Brookdale Athletics Hall of Fame Class of 2017 was honored after the game.
Brookdale has won both games against Cumberland this season and now improves to 17-6 on the season, 12-3 in Region XIX and 12-2 in the Garden State Athletic Conference. The Blues return to Collins Arena for their final home game of the season on Thursday, Feb. 16 when they take on Ocean County at 7 p.m.
