Men's Cross Country Places Well In Challenging Course; Purdon Earns Medal
Philadelphia, PA - The Brookdale men's cross country team ran in its season opener at the Metropolitan Invitational in Philadelphia, PA. The 8K course at Belmont Plateau Park is considered one of the most challenging 8K cross country courses on the east coast. Brookdale was one of only two community colleges in the meet, but ran a very competitive race, placing 9th out of 16 teams.

Philadelphia, PA - The Brookdale men's cross country team ran in its season opener at the Metropolitan Invitational in Philadelphia, PA. The 8K course at Belmont Plateau Park is considered one of the most challenging 8K cross country courses on the east coast. Brookdale was one of only two community colleges in the meet, but ran a very competitive race, placing 9th out of 16 teams.
The team was led by sophomore, Theodore Purdon (Red Bank Regional High School), who placed 12th and earned a medal. Next across the line was sophomore, Josh Seba (Mater Dei Pep), in 51st place. Seba was followed by sophomore, Joshua Beer (Shore Regional High School), in 55th and freshmen Casey Brown (Point Pleasant Boro High School), in 56th. Freshman, Jayden Morris (Monmouth Regional High School), placed 59th.
Rounding out the scoring for the Jersey Blues was freshman, Matt Newman (Rumson Fair Haven High School), in 66th, freshman Joshua Cabral (Middletown North High School), in 76th and Freshman Aeshawn Carney (Long Branch High School), in 92rd place.
Brookdale will be hosting a home meet, the Jersey Blues Invitational, on Saturday, September 17th on Brookdale Community College's Lincroft campus, beginning at 11:15 am.
