Men's Tennis In First Place After Day One Of National Tournament

Sophomore first singles Mostafa Moamen defeated his Elgin Community College opponent, 6-2, 6-0 while freshman second singles Safie Moamen grabbed a first round win against Oxford College, 6-1, 6-1. Sophomore fourth singles Jacob Evans edged Onondaga Community College in two sets, 6-2, 6-4 as freshman fifth singles John Kelly Thompson blanked his Nassau Community College opponent, 6-0, 6-0. All four players will advance to the second round in their individual matches.
In doubles action, Safie and Mostafa posted a win at first doubles, 6-1, 6-1 while sophomore Riad Hamzic and John Kelly recorded a 6-2, 6-4 victory at third doubles over Rockland Community College.
Brookdale sits in first place after day one of competition with 12 points. The team will return to the courts on Tuesday, May 16th for the second round of national tournament action.
