Tinton Falls, NJ - Jersey Blues men's soccer toughed out the hard rain and wind as they hosted the Union College Owls at the Capelli Sports Complex in a double overtime, battle to the bitter end 2-2 tie.
Brookdale launched the first goal just 10 minutes into play when freshman midfielder, William LaBruno, floated a nice ball to freshman forward, Ajani Bruney, to begin the battle. The Jersey Blues didn't see a ball in the back of the Owls net until two minutes left in the 2nd half as sophomore midfielder, Liam Mulvey, found sophomore forward, Ryan Gannon, to crank in his 4th goal of the season and put the Blues ahead, 2-1.
With one minute to spare, the Owls swooped in for a goal to tie the game, 2-2, which ultimately led to overtime. The first overtime period supplied scoring opportunities, but both defenses were able to stay solid through the entire 10 minutes to only push them into a second overtime. The game was finally decided in the 110th minute which ended as a 2-2 tie.
Brookdale is currently 5-5-2 and will travel to the Harcum College Bears den on Thursday, October 6th, at 3:00pm.
