Lincroft, NJ - Bouncing from their 1-0 heartbreaking loss on Saturday to RCSJ - Gloucester, the Blues were triumphant in their match over the Delaware County Community College Phantoms, 4-1.
The Blues had a valiant start to the game with two strong scoring chances, but were cleared off the line by the Phantoms. Delaware CCC responded by hitting the first goal of the game on a counter by their standout forward, Prince Cassel, in the 13th minute. About 15 minutes later, the Blues matched the Phantom's goal with a whipped-in corner shot from freshman midfielder, Enir Radoncic, to freshman defender, Ulisses Ruiz. Ruiz attacked the ball, placing it one time into the lower corner of the net with the inside of his boot.
The game remained a one to one draw until the 60th minute when freshman defender, Noah Mendez, found an open Radoncic at the top of the box. Radoncic then had a touch and emphatically put it in the back of the net. Shortly after his finish, Enir beat three defenders and got taken down in the box for the penalty.
Freshman defender, David Radwanski, stepped up to finish the penalty kick, giving Brookdale a three to one lead. The Jersey Blues saved their best goal for last when freshman defender, Vladimir Gonzalez, played a perfect give-and-go, splitting two defenders with a no look pass to freshman defender, Giovanni Morales. Morales then sprinted on to the ball from 25 yards out, hitting a one-time thunderbolt into the upper corner to secure the game.
Brookdale (2-1-1) will welcome the Bergen Community College Bulldogs on Thursday, September 23rd, on the Lincroft campus field at 3:30pm.
