Largo, MD - The Jersey Blues took their first win on the road against the Prince George's Community College Owls under new head coach, Brad Fraley.
Brookdale was fired up and plowed in their first goal of the season under the five minute mark from freshman forward, Ryan Gannon. Gannon received the ball, beat two defenders, and placed a rocket to the upper 90 past the keeper. A few minutes later, freshman defender, Ryan Garibay, got his first of two goals off of a rebounded shot from freshman midfielder, Louis Cajas.
Late in the first half, the Blues earned a crucial goal from freshman forward, Liam Stewart. Stewart was put in on a breakaway ball from sophomore forward, Dane Calhoun, to take a 3-2 lead going into half. In the 2nd half, freshman forward, Mubashshir Atcha, came off the bench to score immediately, making a big impact on the Blues. Atcha then added a 2nd late goal with a whipped ball from Ryan Garibay. The ball was put in the back of the net with a thunderous header to give the Blues their first win, 6-3.
The Blues are headed to Newton, NJ on Tuesday, September 14th, to take on the Skylanders of Sussex County Community College at 3:30pm.
