Pitman, NJ - The Blues traveled to play Salem Community College only to find themselves in the shadow of the Mighty Oaks. Brookdale gave up nine goals in a match played at Total Turf, in Pitman NJ.
Brookdale's only two goals began with a pass from freshman, Louis Cajas, who found fellow first year forward, Ozan Pehlivan, on the left sideline, 30 yards from goal. Pehlivan turned his defender around and found his way into the penalty area. As he positioned himself to cross kick, his legs were taken out by the chasing defender. Ozan stepped up to take the penalty kick. After a deep breath, he stepped up to the ball and hammered it, low right and past the outstretched arms of the Salem netminder.
Midfielder, Louis Cajas, was involved in another goal in the second half. After winning a tackle in the center circle, Cajas found flashing freshman forward, Mubashshir Atcha, down the left side. Atcha drilled a low cross over the six-yard mark to find freshman, Ryan Gannon, on the end who caressed his second goal of the season into the net. A notable performance was turned in by sophomore, Marlon Morales, in his holding midfielder position.
Brookdale travels south again on Saturday, May 1st, to face the Roadrunners of Rowan College South Jersey - Gloucester.
