Brookdale Men Calm The Camden Cougars; Mateo Comes Through Big With 34 Points
Blackwood, NJ - The Brookdale men's basketball team were able to fend off the Camden County College Cougars for the win, 78-71, but it was not an easy task. The Blues were down at the half 38-33, and really won the game in the last 2.5 minutes.
Blackwood, NJ - The Brookdale men's basketball team were able to fend off the Camden County College Cougars for the win, 78-71, but it was not an easy task. The Blues were down at the half 38-33, and really won the game in the last 2.5 minutes.
Freshman guard, Kevin Mateo, was a huge contributor in the Blues win as he took total control, scoring the last nine points of the game. Mateo dropped a timely 3-pointer with a little over two minutes left in the game to push the Blues ahead 72-69. He then proceeded to snatch a steal for a slam dunk on the other end, was fouled two times, then scored four clutch free throws for the win. Mateo finished with a season-high 34 points, and went 13-13 at the foul line.
The Jersey Blues sophomore guard/forward, Allen Ozojie, supported the win with his a double-double of 11 points, 14 rebounds, and five blocks, as freshman forward, Ronn Flood, added 10 points.
Brookdale, now 14-0, will make their way to Mays Landing, NJ, to play the Buccaneers of Atlantic Cape Community College on Tuesday, January 25th, at 7:00pm.
