Jordan Smith's And-One Propels Brookdale To Victory Over Passaic Panthers
Lincroft, NJ - Freshman guard Jordan Smith's and-one three point conversion propelled the Jersey Blues men's basketball team to victory over the Panthers of Passaic County Community College, 79-75. Smith totaled 11 points for the conference match-up.
Lincroft, NJ - Freshman guard Jordan Smith's and-one three point conversion propelled the Jersey Blues men's basketball team to victory over the Panthers of Passaic County Community College, 79-75. Smith totaled 11 points for the conference match-up.
Brookdale went into halftime with a one point lead after a back and forth first half. With five minutes remaining in the second half, Smith sparked an offensive spurt for the Blues to tie the score at 68. Passaic answered back with a three-pointer. Freshman guard Randi Sutton made a steal and sunk the layup to tie the score at 75. Each team made a couple of stops before Smith came down on a fast break to give the Blues the space they needed to win the region contest.
Six Jersey Blues saw double figures including Sutton with 17 points, sophomore forward Terra Gatling contributed 16, freshman guard Tyler Hawkins notched 13 while sophomore forward Jahmere Calhoun and sophomore guard Stefan Forbes added 12 and 10 points respectively.
Brookdale's record improves to 18-8. The team will return to action at home to take on the Cougars of Camden County College on Tuesday, Febraury 19th at 6pm.
